Body lost or destroyed, Specifically: He was laid to rest at a now abandoned
cemetery, along the banks of the Maumee River, in Paulding County, Ohio.
Christian Dobson was born 1788 to William Dobson, Sr. (#195594625) and Mary Margaret (Wiggins?).
Before 1820, Christian Dobson married Mary(?), who was born about 1785 in Pennsylvania.
In the 1820 US Census, they are living in Cranberry township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, with a male under 10 years old, two females under 10 years old and a male and a female who were both over 45 years old; for a total household size of 7. (Perhaps the two older adults were Mary Dobson's elderly parents.) The Census also showed that he was living next door to two of his brothers, William Dobson and John Dobson, and their families.
By the 1830 US Census, Christian and Mary Dobson had moved with their four children (an older boy and girl and two younger girls) and elderly relative(s) from Pennsylvania to Stark County, Ohio. (Perhaps Mary Dobson's father had earned a Revolutionary War Pension for land in Ohio.) By October 1832 they moved to Wayne County, Ohio and by the 1840 US Census were living in Allen County, Ohio . The last Census recording for Christian Dobson with his wife Mary was in 1850, at Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio.
Christian and Mary Dobson's children were Lydia, Elizabeth and Rebecca. Their fourth offspring could possibly be David Dobson (# 144959893), discovered through recent DNA information. Christian Dobson's Census records support this because he had one son, about David's age on the Census years for 1820 and 1830, but not 1840, because David had married in 1839 and was in the 1840 Census with his wife, Elizabeth Lance . (Christian's daughter, Lydia Dobson is not with them on the 1840 Census because she had married in 1838.)
Christian Dobson's family were members of the German Reformed Church, which later became the United Brethren Church. David Dobson and his wife, were founding members of a new United Brethren Church in Medina County, where they lived. Unfortunately, David Dobson died in 1844 at a young age, leaving his wife a widow, with two young sons.
Christian and Mary Dobson each passed away, sometime between 1850 and 1860.
