John Dunbar was the 2nd son of Sir Patrick Dunbar and Lady Isabella Randolph%2C a daughter of Thomas Randolph%2C 1st Earl of Moray%2C and a younger brother to George I%2C Earl of March. Therefore%2C he was nephew of the previous Earl of Moray%2C John :
